    Add the softened unsalted butter, white sugar, and light brown sugar to a large bowl. Use an electric mixer to cream the ingredients together until combined and smooth.

    Add the large egg, activated charcoal powder, vanilla extract, milk, salt, and baking soda to the butter mixture. Mix with the electric mixer or a whisk until the color is deep black and everything is evenly incorporated.
