In a small bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and cayenne pepper. Mix with a spoon until uniform and set aside at room temperature; do not refrigerate.

Transfer the risen hamburger bun dough to a floured work surface. Deflate the dough and use a bench scraper to divide it into eight equal portions. Roll each portion into a smooth, tight ball and place on a lined baking sheet.

Cover the buns and let them proof for 45 minutes until puffed. Brush the tops with an egg wash (one egg beaten with 2 teaspoons of water) and sprinkle with additional Parmesan cheese if desired. Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
