Finely chop the dried cherries, prunes, and cranberries. Add the walnuts to the pile and continue chopping until the mixture is very finely minced. Use an oiled knife blade to prevent sticking.

Transfer the fruit and nut mixture to a bowl. Add the apricot jam, orange zest, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cardamom, and a generous pinch of salt. Mix thoroughly with a spoon until combined.
